Since I own Holliday in one keeper league, I’m a little disappointed by the trade. Since I own Peavy on the same team, my hope had been that Holliday went to San Diego and Peavy to Colorado. Now I don’t know how I’ll get a leg-up on Papa Smurf in the forums.

Yeah, Beane spun some high-priced, questionable major leaguers for an All-Star and some young prospects. @Ashley: Somebody needs to balance the bench when Sandoval sits down? The Giants were paying for an all-you-can-eat buffet for Sandoval and they figured they may as well take advantage? They bought too many under shirts for Sandoval and rather than them going to waste?

Buster Olney is suggesting Sabathia to the Giants….. I’m guessing to bat cleanup for that pathetic offense.

But seriously though, why the hell would SF spend that much money on a pitcher when they have Lincecum and Cain, and a HORRIBLE offense.

So the A’s get Matt Holiday, Brett Anderson (a top LHP prospect), Dana Eveland (9-9, 4.38 ERA in 29 starts), Chris Carter (39 HR in advanced A ball), and Aaron Cunningham (.317 AVG in AA, AAA & 80 MLB at bats) for Dan Haren, Conner Robertson (7 IP last season), and Huston Street.

@josh: Yahoo's reporting Gonzalez too. From a fantasy perspective, I'd prefer to see him go to the Rox. Add some spice to NL-Only leagues, cause right now all the Rox are getting is borderline pitchers that I don't really want to own in Coors.

looks like the As are giving up a lot less than originally stated. vintage ESPN

ESPN.com previously reported that Smith was in the deal, but it’s now backed off that statement. FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal adds Carlos Gonzalez and Huston Street to the list of players involved. However, we doubt the Rockies are getting those two and a young starter. It’d be a surprise if Gonzalez is included in the trade.
