That’s actaully how it’s worked out in both of my roto leagues. Excluding SVs in my RCL the league leader has 41.5 /48 (86%) pitching points and 47 /60 (78%) hitting points. In my Y! Pro League, league leader has 43 /48 (~90%) pitching points and 44 /60 (73%) hitting points. It also doesn’t hurt that both of those teams are first in SVs also though.

So, your hypothesis is that if you have great pitching and can manage your offense, you’ll suceed? Sounds kosher. I say, just draft what pitchers Grey says and you’ll be good to go!
