I wanted to thank you for all the help this season, too. I’m in the finals in all three leagues I’m in, winning one and playing for the championship in the other.

I hope my starting DLR over Billingsley or Sanchez this week didn’t ruin my chances, but I’m thankful to be where I’m at thanks to all of your advice!

@DrEasy: Not necessarily. @brad: Wow, there's a lot of great options there. Definitely lean on the hitters over the pitchers. I'd go with Wieters, Up and Reynolds.

@Grey: Re: Wieters in the eleventh round and my other keepers. I'm planning on J. Up in the 9th and Reynolds in the 17th for sure. I get 2 others and besides Wieters I'm deciding between Javy Vazquez in the 10th, Wandy in the 20th, and Bourn, Carlos Gonzalez, and Rajai Davis who would cost me 23rd round picks (or 23rd and 22nd if I kept two.) I have a lot of valuable options, but I guess that's a good problem to have.

Thanks for the help all season Grey. You are right many more times than not. I have confidence in my fantasy GM skills, but I consider you a fantasy God who I turn to when I don’t know where to go. @Grey: Well, if Verducci's ok with it... granted, I'd consider muling for the Colombians if Verducci said it was fine. Also, Wainwright, he could quite likely win a Cy Young - and you can't NOT keep a Cy Young winner when there are not cost/pick concerns. Annoying!

@Grey: Yeah, looking back at it now, it was a 60+ IP difference between those years. I'm going to have a lot of hand-wringing this winter regarding innings increases. See: Wainwright, Adam and Carpenter, Chris. W/r/t Wainwright, I'm looking at his career numbers and see that he's done 200+ IP a few times. So that's reassuring. What's not so reassuring is that he's only done it every other year.

I have Wieters in a 14 team keeper league where he’ll cost me an 11th round pick. There are limited keepers, but he’s starting to look like a no-brainer, right?

@peter: Billingsley had a unhealthy jump in innings from 08 to 09 that I (and others) were willing to overlook because it seemed like his body could handle it. It didn't. Next year though, he should be back to his dominating self as long as A) the Dodgers don't go too far in the playoffs B) he doesn't pitch too many innings in the playoffs.

Watching the LAD game yesterday, I was shaking my head and mumbling sonovabench at the end of each of the first 5 innings; Billingsley looked very good. Naturally, he’s lulled me into starting him next week against the Pirates where he’s certain to implode.

Next week’s inevitable implosion aside, what to make of Billingsley for next year? I’ve kept him for 2 years, now, and am worried that I’ve developed an irrational attachment. Like I’m a scout that discovered a young talent and is willing to stake his career on him or something.

Think you’re wrong again on the ChiWsx closer situation. OK, you finally identified the new closer in Thornton, but not only is he better than Morales, but he’s better than Jenks. Just check out his numbers. This year. Last year. The year before. He has potential to be a top 5-10 closer.
