Thanks for the generic version Lou. Can you create one that still keeps track of the salaries of all the teams? The category rankings are a nice to have but keep track of the salaries still available is almost a must.

@G: Hey G. Not 100% sure I get the question, but will do my best to answer. The salaries are meant for auction drafts - so, as a winning bid is made, all you have to do is go to the Players tab and put the team name and wining bid amount next to the player chosen.

If you don't have an auction draft, either skip the salary entry or download one of the straight draft tools.

Hi All

This is great ..... alas I don't have Excel 2007 and my PC is chucking a wobbly trying to play around with it.

I have used this software and is also pretty good .... I have used it and won one league and finished second in another : http://mlbmockdraftsoftware.blogspot.com/

It's all free though donations to the programmer are not a bad idea.

You can import different sets of stats depending which ones you favour.
Its pretty flexible as well, so for our comp which has a modified H2H snake draft it allows me to track its progress well.

Love the site, the writing style, and will keep coming back.

Keep up the great work, Ian (Sydney Australia)

@redmann: I think I will create a generic format for large leagues. I couldn't do the projected team rankings, but that is a nice to have instead of a must. Give me a day or so.

Thanks for the kind words!

Lou this is the best spreadsheet I have seen so far. Thanks for posting it for everyone to use.

Any chance of doing one for larger leagues? I would love this in a 18 team format.

Could you just design like a 20 team one and people in smaller leagues could just not use all the team spaces? Just a thought.

Yeah, it's not a great straight draft tool, agreed. Designed for auctions, jerry rigged for straight drafts. At a minimum, I thought the ability to cross players off a draft list automatically would be of use to some straight drafters.

It's a fantastic spreadsheet - it clearly took *a lot* of work. Also, nice to have included spreadsheets for straight drafts, 12 and 14 team (links on the left).

I'd definitely pick it up for my drafts (I'm only doing straight this season, no auction) but for one thing: it doesn't slice bread.

Which is to say, it was designed for auction drafts - so it doesn't track a straight draft as it progresses. You can't see who has current/upcoming picks, and you can't see who was taken and when. Also, I prefer to not spend time looking up players (to cross them off) during a draft; if you can just type a name in or something (and then that name is removed from the player pool), then you're cooking w/ gas.

But, again, this sheet wasn't designed for straight-drafts. For auctions, it looks very, very good.

@FBHOF: any way we get a ten-team version? I've been involved with a pay service that charged a pretty penny for the same thing -- except it sucked.

@grey: more content is always appreciated unless it results in more visitors, resulting in me getting hosed on draft day.

@Grey: The more the merrier, I say, since you guys do it in such a way that there's more than just baseball to your work.
I think it depends to an extent on the posts, though. For example, something like the Top 300 takes some digesting, so to drop something like a "Grey's 50-Point Plan For Fantasy Baseball Domination" over the top of it might be a little much.
But if you're talking about posts like the VW post appearing more regularly, then I say bring it.

@Steve: I wonder how people feel about going to three posts a day for the month leading up to Opening Day. I'm never sure if it's information overload.
