Is anyone else perplexed to Dee Gordon's numbers? No, I'm not talking about his terrible batting average, I'm talking about his stolen base attempts:

April: 23 times on base, 14 SB attempts
May: 28 times on base, 5 SB attempts


If I had to guess, I'd think that he was told not to steal when he was hitting around .200 in some sort of attempt to maybe get his mind off of stolen base numbers so that he could focus on actually getting hits. If so it worked because his May batting average was 40 points higher than his April batting average, but he's way too fast not to be stealing almost every time he's on first base. Billy Hamilton already has 62 stolen bases in the minors year. He should be every SAGNOF's role model.

Not sure... He tried to today and was thrown out... I think everything's in his head right now, not thinking straight... He's so fast, he just needs to run...

Agreed! He ought to be mandated to run every time he's on base, no matter who is pitching or catching. Maybe if I write him a letter and explain to him how I have him on so many teams and that he owes me...
That or he needs to go back to AAA for a week or two to boost his confidence.

So it's not an issue of him not running, it's an issue of him running so fast t he can't hit the base! He's just too awesome for his own good
