Total mediocrity through this point of the season, and another Ofer tonight. Do I hope he turns it around, or trade him hoping the other guy wants him based off potential and the name on the jersey?

Big Tex always sucks in April. He will be fine.

This.

I don't like the way Te(i)x is trending overall, but if that didn't bother you at draft time his April shouldn't be a concern either.

Absolutely DO NOT SELL TEIXEIRA RIGHT NOW (at least, not for the price of his April).

Here are hiis career OPS splits:

March/April: .766 in 214 games
May: .903 in 244 games
June: .899 in 216 games
July: .911 in 227 games
August: .955 in 252 games
September: .946 in 244 games

This is a big-sized sample that clearly indicates that he's awfully cold in April, but hot all other months. Not only that, but his hot months get hotter as the season progresses.

Twice I have drafted tex. The first time I panicked and traded him in early may after a horrible april...i only had to wait two weeks to watch him explode on someone else's team. The next time I kept him, I hated it but true to form he turned it around and did well for me, but I hated owning him because of it. I'll never draft him again, but from owning him twice I can tell you that the pain of waiting is far less than the pain of trading him away and watching him come out of it on a different roster.
