Should I have done this already? He's killing me right now, no HR, no H, no R, no RBI, no nothing. I have Butler I can put at 1B and pick up whoever off of FA pool for Util.

Not going to trade him, etc, just wondering when the hell he's going to turn it around, this is getting ridiculous and I'm trying to claw my way out of an early hole in my H2H league. FYI I also drafted Te(i)x the year his avg plunged....ruining 1B since 2010. So there's also the chance Pujols doesn't turn it around this year.

Did you realize Pujols has a 25% LD rate this year?
Pujols is a very, VERY proud baseball player. When spurned he'll give 100% to prove people wrong. IMO, he is currently pressing and trying to prove STL wrong and live up to his massive new contract. He has expanded his strike zone & is pressing. He is just slumping a bit. He is still on pace for 56 doubles this year.
I'm not going to lie, I don't love the trend over the last 3 years. He's swinging at more pitches out of the zone, walking less and striking out more. That said he is actually making more contact, albeit not as high of quality contact, and he is whiffing on the same % of pitches as career norm.
It seems we are seeing the decline of the machine into a mere mortal HOF hitter.

I have Pujols too, but he's like any of the top 5-6 picks.

When you drafted, you anchored your boat to that dude. You will sink or swim with him. It's not like you're deciding about some 8th round draft pick. This was your team's strength.

If you're thinking of benching him at this point and he's uninjured, just go ahead and trade him. Be done with it.

That's my advice.

For me, I'm just going to stick it out. Pujols is my dance partner and I'm going to have to endure getting my feet stepped during this part of the dance.

"You will sink or swim with him".....don't disagree, but I'm wondering if there's a way to better wait it out until he gets it going. At this point I'm indifferent to missing his first couple breakout games if I can get better-than-800th-ranked-player production from whoever I can find in FA pool until then. I'm probably more antsy about it than most since I spent the past 2 seasons waiting for Te(i)x to provide 1st round value and I cannot believe this is happening again.

Guess I'll wait it out for a while longer.

Let's not forget Big Al didn't start too hot last year. He came on strong, really strong. A guy doesn't average .300 with 100+ RBI and 30+ his entire career and go cold. He's going to hit, and when he does he's going to crush.

I don't see a reason to bench him. The second place team in our league has him and just put him up on the trading block. I'd be more than willing to wait for him to come around.

If you have someone you feel comfortable in the short term to replace him...I could see benching him or anyone for that matter. You would bench a pitcher for a start or two while they are getting thier shizz back together. I don't see the problem doing the same for a hitter. Its a daily H2H league..so you may miss a 4/4 Hr 4 RBI day. I would not trade him or jeopardize my roster to bench him for a few games though.
