These are the available bats:

Bourjos, Rios, Rasmus, Markakis, Moustakas, D. Young, Boneface

After tomorrow's game, do I lose Ichiro for any of the guys listed above? A few of them Grey has ranked ahead of Ichiro. If not, who would you pick up when BJ Upton hits the DL?

Cueto, Chacin, Cahill, Colby, Fister, Liriano

I've shopped around Hellickson and a closer for an uptick in SP and no one has taken the bait. All of those guys (besides Liriano) are ranked ahead of Hellickson in Grey's ranking. Would you go ahead and drop Hellickson for any of them? If not, who would you pick up when Storen hits the DL?

8 teamer feels like a crapshoot... infield is sooo baller..... Id say stick with Eeechie. Sometimes Grey will Rank someone just to make a statement and you have to take it as that. With his 4-5 yesterday and his name rec, you cant just drop him, see if you can trade him for a werth or ethier (both > Eechie imo unless AVE is a big deal). Otherwise jist chill for a bit. See what happens as the season unfolds..........

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, people knock the 8 team league, but it's actually pretty tough. I obsess about it more since there is so much out there, and it seems like a move could be made constantly. My 16 team league obviously doesn't have that problem. There are a couple guys available, but nothing to write home about. I was thinking the same thing, probably hang on to Ichiro for the time being. Hope he can kick it 2008-2010 style and bump up his trade value. I really love my offense, but with my two main utility guys in BJ and Lind hurting, I've gotta get some suitable replacements. After Chacin, who would you go with? I'm thinking either Fister or take a shot on Liriano. I'll be picking someone up once Storen hits the DL. What's your overall opinion of Chacin? I know Grey loves him, but he hasn't looked good in camp, showed up overweight and all.

I would add D Young.

Not a huge fan of either one, really. Just added all of them to hope for some trade value. A couple teams ended up with only 1 or 2 closers.

I'm thinking I'm gonna give Hellickson a couple start trial and pick up either Chacin or roll the dice on Liriano when I can DL Storen. Thanks for the input.

Ok, here's an addendum to my original question:

I have an assload of closers - Marmol, Hanrahan, Myers, Balfour, Marshall, and Storen (who will obviously be DL'd). Like I said, I've been trying to deal Hellickson and a closer for an upgrade in SP and have been unable to do anything. Is it pointless to carry so many closers? I thought some of them might have some value, but they don't. I'm wondering if anyone in such a small league might lose one of them for a starter? It would seem that 4 would be enough, but at the same time I hate sending someone back to the FA pool who actually has a closing gig.

I'd wait to see what happens in the first few weeks - some closer might lose their job or be platooning (Reds?), or some team in your league might decide they actually want to trade for one of your better closers (you will have to give up good value like Marmol I think to make anything happen through trade).

You're talking about 1 spot until Storen comes back (if he comes back, which I'm starting to doubt... remember Aardsma last year?). Anyways, at some point you might decide a crappy closer is worse than a good set-up guy like Clippard anyways.

Otherwise, if you need to make a move elsewhere on your team, who do you drop? Myers? Marshall? Balfour? Hanrahan? They're all marginal in my mind...

Well I had offered up Marmol to give it a shot, but nothing ever happened. I think that's pretty similar to what Grey had to say. I'll just hang on to them and see how things play out. Obviously I can pick someone up once Storen goes down, and I'm hoping it won't be forever. I think Storen, Marmol, Hanrahan and one of the other three will probably keep me afloat, assuming all are healthy. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. Just like getting some advice when I'm wavering on a decision.
