Hey, are the dollar values in the war room what you would spend on a player or just what their projected value is? For example, if the bidding for Braun is at $38 would you go to $39 (list him as $40)?

Depends on the league size... I try not to go over $30 for any players...

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

standard 12 team league.. So does that mean if you wont go over $30 for any player and braun is listed at $40 and Mike Stanton at $30, would you pay $30 for stanton or do you lower all the projections and lets say wouldnt go over 25 or 26 for him?

There really isn't any way to determine a player cap in an auction draft. You can use Grey's projections as you wish but if Braun goes for 31 to someone else and Stanton goes for 29 to you, you're gonna feel silly.

Which is why I'm having a hard time getting a grasp on how much to spend per player..etc. All the war room things and articles about auction draft talk about projections and not how much they would actually spend on a player. I feel like there should be a post of about player's to target specifically for auction draft and then a maximum you would spend for that player- for example Bumgarner is around $15 but obviously I would spend a few more for him since Grey is so high on him

The idea about 30 is you won't get any 1st rounders. But you will have more more for more mid rounders and can spend 5$ on those 8$ players when the teams who spent 5$ too much on Braun are short on cash and can only spend 3-4.

I understand the theory behind it, I just think there are other ways to approach an auction draft. I've seen a stars and scrubs approach work extremely well provided you're able to isolate value in lower tier players.

I guess how I will do it is compare how ESPN has ranked a player and compare it Grey's, then take their projected $ value and if Grey has ranked that player higher than ESPN then I will spend more than the projected and if Grey is lower than ESPN I probably won't draft that player unless it is well below what their projected dollar value is. Which means I will end up with a lot of guy from Grey's post today, thoughts?

Ultimately the only way to handle an auction draft is to react to how people are spending in that specific draft. Try to make people overpay for players that you don't want but don't be afraid to pay an extra dollar or two for a player that you really want. Putting a cap on a player and saying "I won't spend more than X money on Y player" can hurt you as much as splurging can, sometimes. You usually want to be the guy with the most money so that you can control who you get, but if you let guys slip by that you really wanted and you settle for a far worse player just because he cost $3 less, you might regret it.
