Yadier Molina was 3/4 with 3 RBI, while Robinson Cano, Joey Votto, Peter Bourjos, and Shane Victorino all homered. Madison Bumgarner struck out 8 in 5 innings for the win, with John Axford adding a save.

Brandon Phillips hit 2 home runs, drove in 3, and scored 3 to pace the Explosives. Josh Willingham added a homer and 4 RBI, while Alfonso Soriano also knocked in 3 runs. Gio Gonzalez struck out 6 and picked up the win. Leo Nunez recorded the save for the 2nd consecutive day.




Lots of great hitting numbers Monday, but not much to choose from on the pitching side. (of course, that's the night I choose to finish off my GS in a public league with 9 starts; only 3 wins/39 K with an ERA of 4.42 and WHIP of 1.40).

The Drizzy Pirate has not had much go their way this season, but they are still battling in one of the toughest leagues in the RCL, and are now rewarded with the TOD. (makes it all worth it, right? right??)
Dustin Pedroia broke out of a little slump with a 4 for 5 night, hitting 2 home runs, scoring 4 and driving in 5. Miguel Montero (HR/3RBI), Evan Longoria (HR/2 RBI), and Alex Rios (3/4) also starred, while Rafael Furcal and Mike Trout each stole a base.
Mike Leake pitched 8 solid innings for the win,and Mariano Rivera added his 600th save. Ryan Dempster struck out 8, but his 6 walks did hurt the Drizzy P WHIP.

Better Lucky Than Good (Partially Torn RCL) had 30 Ks in 20.1 IP with a win, 1 save, and an ERA of 0.89 and 1.33 WHIP.

The Thracian Soldiers (Roast Beef Curtains) recorded a win and 4 saves in just 6.1 scoreless innings.

Munnsville Shockers (Trippin' Baseballs) struck out 19 and picked up a win and 2 saves, with an ERA of 0.49 and 1.20 WHIP.

I finally got some better than decent results from middle relief. I'm in a three-way race for the K's crown, but I've only got a few starts left, so I've been running out high-K rate middle relief to supplement the two closers I've kept. And it's been killing me. Bastardo, Rzy-the-dude-from-StL-with-no-vowles-in-his-name, Gonzalez, Gregerson, Chapman, etc... they've all polluted my ratios and decided not to K at their usual rate when I had them active.

That was great pitching performance all around, MS. You probably won't be surprised though to learn Rzepczynski struck out the side today in his inning of work.

Well, it surprises me as much as I've been surprised by Weaver's start so far today.

After he gave up 23 baserunners, and 13 ER in 11 innings against Texas and Minnesota, I benched hi when he went to Yankee-town. Of course, there he allowed 5 baserunners, 1 ER and struck out 11.

Today he's facing that dominating Oakland offense. Through 4 2/3 innings, 8 baserunners with 1 K.

Yay.

Josh Willingham homered and Ben Revere stole 3 bases to lead The Secret Weapon. Alexei Ramirez was 2 for 3 with a couple of RBI. Roy Halladay threw a shutout for a win, while Clayton Kershaw tossed 5 scoreless innings (before being ejected) for the second win.




No fewer than 180 RCL teams (39.5%) hit under .200 Wednesday, with Viva los Rojos (The Dread Pirate Rides Again) "leading" the way at .026 (1/38).

THE FIELD moved into a tie for first as the see-saw battle with That's a shame continues. The Dread Pirate remains one of the toughest leagues, and this fight could go down to the last day.

James Loney homered and drove in 3 and Mike Moustakas added the Slam and Legs to pace The Field Friday. Cody Ross, Lonnie Chisenhall, and David Ortiz each added a couple RBI, while Johnny Damon stole 3 bases. Josh Beckett struck out 7 in 6 innings to get the win, and Greg Holland added a win and 2 Ks in relief.



Other top teams for Friday:



That's What She Said (Your Mom's a Schmohawk) hit .449, scored 12 runs, and stole 8 bases.

In all, there were 26 steals in the majors Friday.
