Random ItalicizedVoice (RCL 5) is the non-indexed points leader with 115.5, with an excellent chance to be the overall RCL champion, if they don't choke.

There is the possibility of gaining a point in the stolen base category, where they trail Raynor Shine by 4. So far in August, the Voice have stolen 23, while Raynor Shine has 21 steals. Shine has been hurt by Brett Gardner's slump. Gardner has not stolen a base since August 9. In that time Desmond Jennings has 5 steals for RIV, and Alex Gordon has added 4.

The Voice is scoring 11 in strikeouts and 11.5 in wins. They are trailing Not Ready For Prime Time by 16 Ks and are tied with them at 82 wins, but Prime Time has used their allotted 180 starts, so 1.5 points are there for the taking.

So, 118 points is a possibility. But, of course,points can be lost too. Raynor Shine trails RIV by just 2 home runs, and Federal Dusters is 2 back in wins, and has used 2 fewer starts. The Voice's ERA has been rising in August, and Raynor Shine is within striking distance. And the Toronto Bautistas...ahh, I got nothin'.

Good luck the rest of the way! I guess it would mean something for me to be able to say I was in the league of the champion. (I'm thinking it would mean loser )

RIV is rapidly mooting the Index discussion. What an incredible season!

Adam Jones has to be the most underrated player in fantasy baseball.

Well....I've had great luck thus far and I can only hope for continued success in the home stretch. I've been lucky all the way around from the draft, to trades, to free agent pickups. It's hard for me to even understand how good of a season my team has had. I guess what really puts it in perspective for me is this....the 2nd place team in RCL 5 is Raynor Shine, who at the moment has 97 points. I've never been in a 12-team league where 97 points wouldn't have won the league. And yet he finds himself more than 18 points out of first at the moment. That's astonishing to me. The bottom line is my team has been very consistent from about May onwards, and it's been an incredible run, even if I don't take home the hardware.

So yeah....I think Better Lucky than Good, and perhaps a few others, are still in the race. My ERA has been gradually slipping recently and HRs is still very close. Final positions on Ks, Ws and SVs are still in the balance. So there is still work to be done, and I'm looking forward to it.

And yes...Adamski Jones is indeed criminally underrated.

My pitching has been an absolute disaster for the past week. Just miserable. I'm in an ERA and WHIP freefall and have been unable to score very many SVs or Ws. My offense has been absolutely on fire, but the pitching has been just abysmal.

Ha. Mine too. Today, 3 out of four relievers come on and give up 1 run in 1 inning. (Had one of those yesterday too). Verlander 4 ER in 6 IP. Weaver 7 ER in 6 IP. Carmona gave up 5 to KC. Leubke 5 IP, 3 ER. Cecil decided to piss in my corn-flakes (5 ER in 6.1 IP, again, with the Royals). If it weren't for Saunders and Floyd giving me a coupla solid streams, this last week woulda been really, really lousy instead of just really lousy.

Funny thing though. I still managed to gain 2 points and finish at 117 for the week. (Coulda been 118 with some reasonably unshitty pitching (I was battling for the ERA title, but now I've got some serious work to do - or Broth's Bombers has got some even more serious sucking to do), but whaytavah...)

Good old fantasy baseball. Now my team cannot hit. I think we're hitting about .225 over the past week. My pitching has picked up a bit....getting lots of saves and some nice K-rates (including streaming Peavy yesterday. I saw that Twins lineup, and immediately ran to stream him. Worked out pretty well). Still hoping for my team to pick up the SB rate and to get the ERA down a tiny bit more (if not for the Beckett injury, I probably would not have started Hudson in Philly yesterday...oh well). Streaming Harang today in Petco vs. the Giants....hoping for the best.

These boards are magic. I've seen several people complain about players x, y, and/or z and then the very next day, those players turn in great stat lines.

I guess it works for teams, too.

Except mine.

I joined you in complaining about a bad pitching run, and since then Verlander's given up 4 ER (I think twice), Weaver's taken a dump on my ERA, and to add insult to injury, the only guy beating me in ERA and running neck and neck with me in K's sends out Shields, Garza, Becket and streams Fister (!) for a combined 34 Ks over 30.1 IP of .89 ERA and .89 WHIP, earning 3 wins and 2 saves.

For a few hours, I had cracked 118 points. Now I'm back to 117, and in a squeaker with two other teams for the top spot in K's. I've still got a shot at finishing with 119 points, but it's unlikely.

To make matters worse, Team Miller is shooting at my SB lead, so I had to go get some speed (at the expense, perhaps, of average, where my lead is also tenuous).

Nothing wrong with a little "reverse jinxing".
