SAGNOF General Strategy

Steals/Saves Ain't Got No Face. Closers and speed talk. Which MRs are moving in? Which schmohawk speedster is getting steals at MI?

SAGNOF General Strategy

Postby sean1981 » Fri Jan 16, 2009 11:49 am

Not sure if the idea is to grab a guy super late in the MI/5OF/UTIL slot for cheap speed or to make waiver moves midseason or later to give saves and steals a quick bump once you've developed comfortable points in the power categories.

I would think either play is OK. What's optimal and what should I look to be doing on draft day concerning cheap speed? I would think that this is a favored approach over wasting a roster spot in a power position on a one or two category speed/average guy (a la Figgins at 3B in the middle rounds). I guess I'm just asking you to flesh out the theory a bit more...

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Fantasy Baseball Drafting Strategy
is great!

Would be even better if you could post a 2009 edition, enhanced with wisdom acquired since you posted the original, whether you still think those 'rules' are valid etc.

The Razz was a bit of a different place back then...
This IS my f**king outlet!

The last two times I took a closer “early,” about picks 100-120 (It’s a keeper league), I ended up with Dotel and Soriano in two diff. yrs. I ended up with like 7 combined saves between the 2… suffice to say I ain’t going down that road no mo’.

In my ongoing slow draft, I wanted to take Fuentes or Ryan at 144, but both were taken before my spot, so I went with Carlos Pena and Javy Vazquez instead. (I have back to back picks) I may be better off for it.
