Webb or Lincecum?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Webb or Lincecum?

Postby johnwhorfin » Wed Jan 14, 2009 8:31 am

I asked this at the end of last season, but will pose it again in light of the Top 20 posted by Grey: In my main keeper league, I can keep one SP. I have both Webb and Lincecum on my roster. Which do I keep? It's a 6x6 roto league with OPS and Holds as the extra categories. Thanks for the input.

It's really close, but I'd have to say Lincecum. Though Webb is a bit safer of a keeper. Ugh, it's a tough one. Lincecum's got the upside though so that makes him really tantalizing. Kinda depends on your other keepers too. It's really the difference between maybe ten picks on the board. I'd put Webb in the third round and I placed Lincecum in the 2nd. I'd look at it like this, if you want to go (very slightly) risky, go Lincecum and if you want the safe stud, go Webb. Lincecum's edge is Ks and slightly in ratios. His wins will come down from last year.

EDIT: I see we already went over this. A'la DeNiro, "You!"

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Sorry Grey, I posted it on the site as a comment, totally forgetting about the forums (I'm at work, so my time is divided here, with my clients calling and emailing me like I work for them or something-that's my only explanation).
My other keepers are ARod, Berkman, Kinsler and Quentin (I also have Pedroia, but can only keep 5 players). I'm really wavering on this one, although I have designated Webb as my keeper in my mind so far. I know whoever I don't keep will be gone before I draft at #7.

An abundance of quality keepers is not a bad place to be. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either of those pitchers. Lincecum's definitely more exciting, but Webb should beat him in Wins and be close to him in everything else except Ks, where Lincecum will win.
