O's have placed George Sherrill on the 15 DL with inflammation of his pitching shoulder. No official word on who will close in his place - but Jim Johnson has been pitching in the 8th.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. JJ does seem likely replacement.

The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions. Is your league H2H? Roto? I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from. If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters. I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

any reports on when Chris Ray is to return.?..he could be a sneaky stash on a DL spot if he comes back in September.

The Baltimore Sun (via Rotowire and The Wire) reported that Ray was shut down for the season at the end of July. So, nah, doesn't look like Ray is much of an option. Very sneaky idea though.

Actually, just saw new reports that say Ray may pitch again this season. But Rotowire qualifies that by saying "there should be no way he closes this year, even in George Sherrill's absence."

Ray's not pitching in the majors this year according to Trembley.
