Ok, full disclosure since I'm a saves whore too and I just picked Hanrahanananan in a 15 team 'pert league at the cost of Duncan.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Who do you guys think will close for the Cubs while Wood is out?

I've grabbed Howry hoping it is him...

Great thread Peter, kudos.

Why didn't you think of this Grey? Too busy answering schlubs like us?

BTW, I added Ayala, don't want Hanrahanrahan, he'll pull an Ankiel in his first chance and come back as an outfielder.

This gives me 6 closers, speaking of save whores, I'm bogartin saves.

Someone please rank these.....

K-Rod (duh)
Marte
Broxton
Kobayashi
Franklin
Ayala

I'm thinkin this is the right order, curious to see what you guys think.

It should be Marmol - but Wood may very well be back next week. I say "should" only because Sweet Lou has been known to keep us on our toes. (I still suffer from repetitive motion stress after add/dropping Cubs relievers so often during Dempster's time in the bullpen last year.)

Thanks, BFH.

If only he should be so lucky. Actually, if one more Nats OF goes on the DL, maybe we'll get a chance to see what Jesus Colome can do in LF. Maybe I'll look into taking a flier in my NL only league.

How about some crazy: K Rod, Kobayashi, Broxton, Marte, Franklin, Ayala.

The caveats: My ranking is based partly upon who may still be getting saves in 10 days. Marte's on the market (he'd be a set-up guy anywhere else); and the Dodgers and Cards are interested in Street/Fuentes/etc. (so Broxton and/or Franklin may go back to the 8th); Franklin may lose some saves to Izzy down the road; and we don't know if Ayala's the guy in Washington, if they're going with a committee, etc.

Yeah, it's mostly K-Rod and a handful of shit.

Trade deadline can't get here soon enough for me, hurts my head to think this hard.

ESPiN: "Saul Rivera is also considered a possibility for now, but we'll keep an eye out for manager Manny Acta's official plans as they become available in the near future. Hanrahan has rolled up 65 strikeouts over 59.1 innings for Washington this season and he's got an arsenal well-suited for ninth-inning work if Acta decides to give him the ball late.

RotoWire | Tue, July 22"

That's from Hanrahan's player profile. The person that is in last place in SVs grabbed him instead of Ayala. I grabbed Blahala.

Hmmm... Huston Street.

I, like so many others, liked Joey Devine as the closer-in-waiting until he went on the DL. He's got great stuff, and a very solid last name for a closer (unlike David Riske of the Brewers). He should be coming back in the next week or so (though today's rehab outing was postponed until later in the week due to "minor neck stiffness"). But he hasn't pitched in a game in 2 months.

Santiago Casilla is another popular guy, I suppose. He had an amazing stretch earlier this season before deteriorating as of late (much like last season where he was dominant for a stretch). His overall numbers are still very good - but his ERA is actually 7.12 since he returned from the DL a month ago (with 7 Ks and 4 BB in 10.1 innings). Not exactly dominant. And they haven't been giving him a very big workload, either.

So what would happen if Street left? It could/should be Devine if he returns healthy and proves that he still has his shiz together (which won't necessarily happen - look at Casilla). Until then, maybe Embree? Could the A's still be thinking Casilla?

Anyone know what the latest is on Kerry Wood? I picked up Bob Howry after the blister news, but is a roster spot I could make better use of. Marmol will probably get any saves won't he?
