The Riddler of Pitchers

Postby havok » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:19 pm

Looking to drop Kelly Johnson now that Beckham is 2B eligible and pick up some innings. Decent talent on the WW but guys with a lot of question marks.

W, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB all factor in.

Top available options:

Kevin Correia
Gio Gonzalez
Randy Wells
Jaime Garcia

Gio has all kinds of upside and best KO pitcher here but can be inconsistent and wild. Wells doesn't have the great K numbers but always seems to just get the job done and maintains good control. Correia has a great home ballpark and puts up solid K numbers. Jaime is off to a hot start that isn't exactly supported by his peripherals (.158 BABIP, 90% strand rate, 3.38 xFIP).

I have them ranked in my preferential order but I'm looking for outside thoughts/opinions. Thanks in advance!

havok, I really like Correia's numbers and would also put him at the top of those four. Then Wells because of Gio's high walk rate.

Yeah, I'd take Correia first there as well.

Made the move for Correia. Sad to see KJohnson moved into lead-off spot with Conor Jackson going down but I wasn't going to be able to fit him into my lineup and he didn't hold much water in the trade market.
