Carlos Santana

Postby wudaben » Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:31 pm

Time to christen this new forum! I've begun to notice his ownership in CBS leagues has risen to 40% here this week and I'm contemplating the right time to jump on him. Obviously as we saw with Weiters last season it is risky to expect any kind of immediate production from rookies but considering his minor league pedigree he "could" be a much needed piece to the fantasy team who is weak at catcher. Do you think he is one of those impact players and when are you grabbing him?

I'm in a 12 Team H2H Points league w/ Chris Snyder as my starter for now.
12 Team H2H Points Weekly Lineups:
Hitting Scoring: HR: 4 SB: 2 1B: 1 2B: 2 3B: 3 BB: 1 R: 1
Pitching Scoring: Win: 10 Loss: -5 Inn: 3 K: 1 ER: -2 Hits: -1 BBI: -1 Save: 8 BS: -3 CG: 5 SO: 5 No Hitter: 5 Perfect Game: 10

Already grabbed him in a 14 team h2h, and am considering grabbing him in a 10 team roto. His line in AAA so far is bonkers. 1.333 OPS. There was mad hype for Wieters last year, but his 2009 AAA OPS paled in comparison (something like .890). If Santana hits well in his first two weeks up, I think you'll have an excellent piece of trade bait.

Find a way to get your hands on this guy. As noted earlier, if nothing else you'll have yourself a fine piece of overpriced trade bait if he starts off hot. At worst you'll have a catcher with an unbelievable ceiling that should get plenty of playing time and opportunity. Considering how many bad C options there are out there I like picking up Santana ASAP.
