@Grey: drop Kershaw and pick up Josh Banks or Galarraga?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

@Grey: drop Kershaw and pick up Josh Banks or Galarraga?

Kershaw seems to be entering his "adjustment period," and appears to be useless in the short term. Meanwhile, Josh Banks has pitched well, and does pitch at Petco more than others. Grey likes NL pitchers. On the flip side, Galarraga has a winning record, and looks serviceable, and does have a great offense on paper. which move?

I would go with Banks. I like the fact he's an NL SP and Petco is his home
park. I like Armando but pitching against teams lime the Mets and Phils worry me more than the Giants and Dodgers

Hey Zebo -
Grey's fast asleep so thought I'd answer. Kershaw is definitely droppable at this point but can't say I'm a huge fan of Banks or Galarraga. Banks has pitched well so far and love SD pitchers (except Wil Ledezma - man does he get rocked) but his minor league stats (mostly with the Blue Jays) are really mediocre (4.63 ERA / 1.28 WHIP in 2007 with avg K rate). This feels like a total fluke with Banks and it's just a matter of time before the other shoe falls. in 58 IP, Galarraga has a 39/26 K/BB ratio. That's awful. His minor league stats are nothing great either.

Not sure what other starters are available in your league to recommend. When in doubt, find a middle reliever to give you some quality innings and maybe a vulture win....

Kershaw @ SD tonight. If he can't do it in that park against that team I'm dropping, but I'm going to wait and see. Yes he is on an inning limit, but if he can do something during those innings I'll hold.

@Rudy and Doc: all those other pitchers that everyone liked (the ones under the radar a little) were autodrafted for this one owner who doesn't give a damn by yahoo: Jeremy Gutherie, Bret Myers, etc. So slim pickings on the wire now. One owner just dropped Jair Jurrgens, who seems to be in his own "adjustment" period. I am going to pick up those Oakland MRs as soon as they come off DL, but my 4 relief pitching spots are occupied by F. Cordero, Hoffman, Torres and Broxton, so it's hard to squeeze in another MR. Would be different if I still had Leo Nunez with his SP eligibility, but he was DLed and I dropped him. Guess I will hang onto Kershaw for a few days until Chase Headley is here.
