weekly h2h pitching/utility

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

weekly h2h pitching/utility

Postby cockyphoenix » Mon Jun 09, 2008 1:46 pm

All my losses in my h2h league have been by 5 or 10 points (scoring system makes average week about 300), and I usually have more than the deficit on the bench. This week I have to decide between
Vlad (vs Pelfrey, Perez, Santana, x, @ Eaton, Myers, Hamels) and
José Guillén (x, @ Looper, Wainwright?, Wellemeyer, vs Misch, Cain, Correia).

I also have Capps (3@CHW, 3vsTOR) or Street (3@ARI, 3vsFLA) or Lackey (vs Johan) or Vólquez (@ Mussina)

I was thinking Capps and Guillén?

I'd go with the hot hand in Guillen.

As for a closer or a starter.... How many closers do you have going? Do you need another closer or is a starter the better way to go?

I'd probably go with Lackey if saves aren't that big of an issue.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Code: Select all

BBI - Walks Issued (Pitchers)     -0.5 points
CG - Complete Games               5 points
ER - Earned Runs                  -1 point
HA - Hits Allowed                 -0.5 points
INN - Innings                     2 points
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher)          1 point
S - Saves                         10 points
W - Wins                          10 points

My bullpen often outscores my 1-start pitchers because S are equal to W in value. Last week Lidge got me 53, Capps 51, Hamels SHO 34, Vólquez 30. So basically if Capps gets 2 saves he's fairly likely to outscore Lackey, but it's really hard to predict closer appearances.

Hey cocky,

I have some experience with H2H points based scoring, I am currently in first in my league and I won it last year, huzzah! (shameless self boast mode: off) I also have Vlad and benched him last week and this week (last week mostly due to injury concern). I have enough offensive depth that I can just kind of ride it out with him and hope he turns it around. I would start Guillen over him next week (this week already locked), unless he goes on a tear and hits like 4 bombs or something (which he probably WILL do since he gets the luxury of facing Ollie Perez).

As far as your pitching spot, I would say go either Capps or Lackey. The Mets offense will likely struggle mightily with Lackey next week.

Ah... I see. Well, don't you have until next Monday to make these decisions? Injuries or streakiness might change by then.
