Catchers

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Catchers

Postby knighttown » Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:46 pm

A catching chronology:
March 08-wasted the #22 overall pick on vHictor Martinez
April 10, 08-alarmed at above's lack of power production but at least he was hitting .350
April 25, 08- surprised to see myslef in last in terms of hitting since this was my focus.
April 25, 08-place small pox in Cleveland Indians dressing room due to vHictor and tHravis hafner, who was drafted #23 ruining my entire season.
May 10, 08-with A-Rod out, my first three picks have a combined 4 HR.
May 21, 08- gut my entire pitching staff, Hudson, Haren and King Felix bring in Fielder, Rollins and Dunn. John Rocker now staff ace.
June 1, 08- both Pronk and Victor retire...or something. Pick up Rod Barajas.
June 2, 08- sober up and drop Barajas. Pick up Miguel Olivo.
June 5, 08- Quote from TSN- "Olivo was in as the DH, and has become a permanent part of the Royals lineup. He's hitting .297/.321/.563 on the season"
June 19, 08- he has 6 AB's this week. No notes, no nothing. Just a red "x" by his name every day.

Point of all this, is there anyone worth picking up or do I wait for Olivo to get back from vacation?

I've been trying to ignite C, as well. I fucked up & dropped GeoSoto 2 weeks into the season 'cause I thought he looked terrible. I picked up AJ because he was on fire. I was wrong. AJ holds a nice AVG, but that's really not getting me anywhere. Need some power.

This lead to me grabbing Jesus. Jesus ain't cuttin' it. Thinking about Ianetta. Are there any prospects?

Tired of waitin' on Jesus, need second coming of Bruce...at catcher.

Why don't you both try Clement on for size?

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

@Grey:

Drop Olivo for him? This is Jeff Clement, that is hitting .160? Fuck, I think I might pick up Shroeder from the Peanuts. Anyway, I checked him out and there's a great line in his scouting report that sums up the Mariners.

(paraphrasing)"Clement calls a good game. He'll catch more than he has. Meanwhile Johjima has been working out at first base because one thing the worst team in the majors needs is a first baseman with a .299 SLUGGING percentage.

Other catchers who are "highly ranked" in the past 2 weeks and are available are:

-Laird
-Zaun
-Shoppach
-Navarro
-Ianetta
-Larue
-Kendall
-Suzuki

and well, Ausmus is next and the next guy I draft that is ranked behind Goalie Helmet in hitting...is, well...that won't happen.
