Draft Order Selection

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Draft Order Selection

Postby A2K » Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:05 pm

I'm in a 12 team keeper league that keeps 8 players.
Snake Draft.

No compensation for players kept but keeper life is limited to three years.

5x5 Yahoo League
C, 1b, 2b, 3b, ss, ci, mi, of, of, of, of, of, ut
sp, sp, rp, rap, p, p, p, p, p
8 Bench

Keeping:
Jason Kipnis
David Ortiz
Carlos Gomez
Aroldis Chapman
Kenley Jansen
Ben Zobrist
Danny Salazar
Torii Hunter -or- Doug Fister

My dilemma is taking the first pick overall or picking toward the end of the first round in order to have two picks in the top 15.
I could guarantee myself M Cab or Cutch and hope for the best at pick 24 -OR- I could take a 10, 11, or 12 pick and hope for a combo of Longoria and Bruce/Pujols.

Pick early? Pick Late?

The top 25 is projected to be something like this, a lot of good players going back into the draft.

Miguel Cabrera
Andrew McCutchen
Robinson Cano
Prince Fielder
Adrian Beltre
Hanley Ramirez
Troy Tulowitzki
Evan Longoria
Clayton Kershaw
Joey Votto
Jay Bruce
Jose Bautista
Albert Pujols
Jacoby Ellsbury
Cliff Lee
Felix Hernandez
Justin Upton
Jose Dariel Abreu
Matt Holliday
Dustin Pedroia
Jose Reyes
Elvis Andrus
Ryan Zimmerman
Adrian Gonzalez

Any responses/insight appreciated.

When in doubt, take Miggy... No reason to pass him up...

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

I bet alot more pitchers are drafted in that first 25 then you think take the early pick to get another first rounder (miggy cutch) and i bet you still get another solid bat at the end of the 2nd.

Thanks for the insight guys.
I'm just straddling a vascilation of a dilemma considering Prince is no longer in DET and the guys batting in front of Mig aren't OBP monsters.
