Punting Holds?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Punting Holds?

Postby TheShelbySensation » Fri May 10, 2013 8:01 am

My league counts holds and I've always tried to win the CAT. I have Melancon for a holds guy and he's doing great. But 1 holds guy isn't enough to win each week. I was wondering if I could punt holds and maybe trade him for someone like Perez and just make sure I win Saves every week. Is this a bad strategy?

Punting any category can be hard to make up. Sure teams do it and win but I generally hear more teams trying it and lose. Even throwing one guy out there will help more than just holds so I would probably continue doing that. Just not sure how much Perez will help your team compared to running Mel out there each day.

I would definitely consider punting either holds or saves in a league with that many categories, depending on how many relievers you can start each week. I'm in another league that's a 10x10 counting holds and saves. I've punted saves this year (I have 0) and I'm in second place. I would punt saves if I were you because it's easy to find good holds guys on the waiver wire, but you're already heavily invested in closers.
