Should I take this offer?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Postby jason20000 » Sun Apr 21, 2013 6:31 pm

I was just offerred Brandon League straight up for Frazier. I need saves (only have Chapman), but that seems to expensive a price. The team making the offer wants someone who is 1B eligible.

You're in a bad spot here.

On paper, that's terrible value, but when it comes to the closer market, paper value is mostly meaningless. It's all about leverage, and unfortunately, the guy with no closers never has any. Meanwhile the opposing team would like to get Frazier, but he doesn't have to get him. He's got Seagar heating up and a Rendon rental to get him through the next week.
On the other hand, you are falling behind by the day and waiting longer just makes it harder and harder to ever catch up.

You're going to get screwed in this (I collect RP just to screw the poor schmucks that don't have any). I'd try to make sure and get 2 guys getting saves (or who probably will soon) with whatever trade you do so you'll only get screwed once.
And certainly, if you move Frazier, make sure it's for 2 guys. Losing a good bat and still only having 2 closers really doesn't help your problem much.

Obviously, try to milk the wire as best you can.
10 team 5x5 ROTO (OBP), 11-player keeper, C/1B/2B/3B/SS/MI/CI/IF/5OF/UTIL/8SP/3RP

C: Castro, Montero
1B: Rizzo, Adams, Lind
2B: Kinsler, Kipnis
3B: M.Cabrera, Frazier, Reynolds
SS: Alcides
OF: Stanton, Trumbo, Choo, Marte, Rasmus, Blackmon, Bradley Jr.

SP: Gio, Scherzer, Ryu, Cashner, Kuroda, Lackey, Minor, Wood, Peralta
RP: Balfour, Perkins, Nathan, Frieri, Fields

The other team wants Frazier to play 1B, not 3B. However, like you said, I do need closers.

Any suggestions on a counter offer?

You are loaded at OF. Trade with another team that needs a good OF? If not, possibly try to get Benoit too as another person suggested. Not a good trade, but at a minimum, I would try get Rivera or Johnson. The LA closer job could be a couple of bad outings or a minor injury away from being Jansen's.
