Huge trade help!!! Berkman/JUpton for Ellsbury/Joba Keeper!!

Postby Andrew » Sat Jun 14, 2008 1:29 pm

This is a big trade on the table and here it is.
I would be giving up: Joba Chamberlin($13),Ben Sheets ($17), Jacoby Ellsbury($17), and Ryan Garko ($6)
and getting: Lance Berkman ($45), Justin Upton($9), and Ken Griffey Jr. ($9) and Cash($6).
Prices listed are the cost to keep for the 09 season. Total salary allowed is $360, I would be getting an additional $6 on top of the $360.

Here is my roster.
C - Geovany Soto ($9)
1B - Ryan Garko ($0)
2B - Howie Kendrick ($16)
3B - Aramis Ramirez ($32)
SS - Ryan Theriot ($0)
OF - Grady Sizemore ($55)
OF - Nick Markakis - ($30)
OF - Jacoby Ellsbury ($11)
UTIL - Edwin Encarnacion ($14)
BN - Adam LaRoche ($6)
BN - Evan Longoria ($11)
DL - Travis Hafner ($38)
DL - Rafael Furcal ($24)

SP - CC Sabathia ($32)
SP - Tim Lincecum ($28)
SP - Edison Volquez ($0)
SP - John Maine - ($16)
RP - Matt Capps ($14)
RP - CJ Wilson ($3)
P - Ben Sheets ($11)
BN - Manny Parra ($2)
BN - Rich Hill ($28)
BN - Joakim Soria ($2)
BN - Joba Chamberlin ($7)

I need an upgrade at 1b and this is a money/keeper league so i want to play for the future and now. I dont know what to do, help me please!

How many keepers is this? Would you be keeping Berkman? Cause he's no bargain at $45. I love Upton, but to give up Joba and Ellsbury gives me pause. My gut says don't do it.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Unlimited keepers with a 15% annual increase or $6 whichever is greater. We get $15 per player, so the guys are more expensive than a standard $10 per player league. Berkman at $45 is the same as having him at $30 in a $10 per player league. Losing Joba is the most important risk in my opinion as i believe that Justin Upton will be a better keeper than Ellsbury, and he is cheaper than him. I want to keep my core together, but because I could win over $1000 I feel like sacrificing some future wouldnt be bad. And he is giving me $6 if that makes any difference. Does that change anything?

I don't think you should do it. It's too much for Upton and Berkman has special quality of not producing years after he does produce.
