Seriously, does anyone think he holds the gig all year now that Leyland identified him as the go to guy?

I have NFBC bidding tonight and need a closer bad but man, just cannot see dropping $100 on Benoit. I'd rather throw $50 or so and Andrew Bailey.

Thoughts?

it's a crapshoot...

you are already speculating with Rosenthal...do you want to speculate further...you'd be speculating with both Benoit and Bailey, but if you need saves now then I'd go with the guy who technically has the job and that is Benoit

Joel Hanrahan has some soreness in the back of one of his legs that the Red Sox believe could be affecting his mechanics.
"I'm fighting some things with my mechanics and my legs, and it's just something that I got to work on," Hanrahan said Saturday. "I guess I'm more of a warm-weather guy, I don't know but you know it's just something that we got to fight through." Hanrahan blew a save Wednesday and was removed from Saturday's game after walking the only two batters he faced. It doesn't sound like the leg issue is a DL situation, but if it leads to more struggles, the Red Sox could eventually turn to Andrew Bailey

Just picked this info up...not sure if this changes things...if you want save opps now, then go for Benoit...if you want them later, maybe Bailey

looks like Hanrahan will miss the next few days (or so) with a hamstring problem...Bailey would get the 9th there, but Farrell believes that the leg problem has compromised Hanrahan's mechanics and will likely entrust him with the 9th again once he's rested...doesn't mean he will keep the 9th

Hammerhands will not keep the job all year. Walks too many guys. Had the same problem last year.

What's the take on Det closing?

I realize it's led by Benoit for now, but anyone think Valverde may actually reclaim the gig soon? I'm stashing him. Perhaps the Tigs make a trade for a guy like Bailey or Hanrahan?

If they make a trade, it won't be until the trade deadline. They are going to keep trying relievers until then. If they keep hitting like the last two games they don't need a closer though.
