He came in yesterday in the 8th inning for 2 outs. I need holds, have 5RP slots, and 4 closers, so holds out of a SP slot would be great. I'm also hurting for SP so I don't mind him as a SP sleeper.

So...anyone think Leyland is going to use Smyly in holds situations for now?

So many question marks surrounding this bullpen. Maybe worth a flyer but there is a lot of settling still to happen.

True. In a way the huge mess actually creates opportunity for Smyly but there's no way to know. I have nothing to lose right now. Maurer and Gee destroyed my ratios.

I have Strop and Sergio Santos for holds, but like I said only one slot for them. Trying to trade a closer but so far the best I can get is haren and storen for Grilli. Haren scares me.

Melancon and Doolittle are available for holds...I like Doolittle the most. Might grab him instead of Strop. I'm new to holds though so this is hard for me to predict.

Any advice?

Smyly is more a long reliever and if some gets lit up or injured he comes in behind. Downs is a loogie. Leyland likes to play people on the regular and rest often so it might have been Smylys scheduled day

If you want a holds guy with SP eligibility, Brett Cecil is dealing pretty good right now.
