Better Bench option

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Better Bench option

Postby agilejro » Sun Mar 24, 2013 2:48 pm

Team is def bit short but not terrible in Steals, thinking CoCo or intrigued by BELT, he legit 10 team mix upside player?

Belt might get you 10-15 steals...I would watch him though...1B is deep...depends on your league...I would want guys who have upside and might get out of the gate fast...so that I can use them or trade them.

I'd probably take Crisp over Morse...they are both injury risks and you need Crisp's steals vs. Morse's (suspect) BA and power.

I'm thinking Madson should be on the DL once the season starts...not positive...so maybe someone else can chime in here...he's a candidate to miss all of April.

I'd probably take Crisp over Morse (do some stat counts across the board (of your team)...if you can stash Madson then take a flier on Belt.

If you have a DL slot I'd slot him then pick up

drop Morse stash Ortiz (he's old...injury prone...but can still hit)

I'd pick up Revere after stashing Ortiz...you may have to dump him later on...but he has potential for 40+ steals depending on his role...Ortiz might be reading for Opening day or near there...you can decide on Revere by then.

Revere has been hitting well for the Phillies this spring...so has Dominic Brown...btw...Revere has been stealing a few bases...by guys is that the Phillies try him at leadoff to start the season and go with Rollins batting 3rd or 4th (Rollins is a switch hitter this is important late in games)...if Revere is at or near the top of the order he could "easily" steal 40 bags.

You can always change your mind in a 2-3 weeks depending on how things unfold.

in your league I would be stashing Ortiz...taking Revere...for now...if you have another DL spot and Madson starts the year on the DL you stash him there and pick up Jansen...Kenley Jansen is a great closer and he should have the closer job from Brandon League at some point this year and should hold it the rest of the year.

I'm skeptical as to whether Madson progresses without any arm problems and/or loses his job to Frieri but for now you have him...if you can stash him...might as well...Kenley is the long term add there though.

I guess im little too high on Morse, your right though having Ortiz at some point would be huge. I do think Morse can hit .285 with 30 hrs but Ortiz different level. Think this heel/foot/leg injury going to ever settle. Thanks again
