Looking for some solid input on how / who to choose my 1st pick (= 1st pick in the 12th round after keepers accounted for)
Few notes: - 5 closers were kept, 1 of which is Bruce Rondon Given that I've decided to eliminate a Closer as an option. Team is below. - Of my first 3 rounds, I plan to select 1 bat and 2 arms (pick 1, 27 & 28) - Team has been rebuilt over the last 2 seasons, I am really looking to compete this year, however I def weigh potential 2014 keeper value into account given said player would become a trade tool (best example is a bat that could net me a potential #2 or top #3 starter)
Based on the top 400 by Grey, I'm deciding on selecting one of the players below...
Ranked #89 Danny Espinosa (need a 2b but his shoulder injury is a huge concern) Ranked # 98 Jon Lester (not terrible option but is not a huge fan of a) Al East Pitchers and b) his terrible 2012 Ranked # 101 Todd Frazier (first guy that excites me, a few guys in real bad shape at the corners, Lawrie may begin season on DL and if does what's expected should have trade value for this year and as a keeper. Ranked #105 Kendrys Morales (rather have Frazier but maybe I can be convinced?) Ranked # 108 Sal Perez (Love this guy and his upside but is it enough to take over the guys above?) Ranked # 109 Hyun Jin Ryu (Feel like its a bit too risky at this point) Ranked # 110 Jon Niese (tough to break my no Mets policy) Ranked # 116 Vic Martinez (like what he brings for 2013, age = weaker trade value) Ranked # 121 Dan Uggla (I do need a 2b and so far my BA can handle the drain (currently .284) best choice to fill the roster position? Ranked # 128 Josh Reddick (OF is fine going in, but a hot start and he could be a very valuable trade chip, Ranked # 142 Mike Minor (love his 2nd half last year, very tradeable for value, fulfills upsdie could really boost my staff. I prefer he over Ryu due to less uncertainty.
None of these players will be available when my 2nd pick (#27). I really want to make sure I select the player that will maximize on a) Low risk b) keeper value / trade value c) upside to current Grey projections d) impact for this years team (not in any particular order)
Using the 2013 "War Room", my offense projects to be in the top 3 compared to other's teams keepers R HR RBI SB Avg 89 25 93 15 .285
Really appreciate any input / advice ... Thanks in advance!!
