Hey all,

More of a general fantasy question for y'all...what's your take on positional scarcity in deeper leagues? The trade that has me thinking about it is getting Adam Jones for Ian Kinsler. With so few top-tier options at 3B, 2B, C, is it worth trading away a good option at one of those positions for a better player in a deeper one like CI, OF, etc.?

What do you guys think (less so on the trade, but how to approach the positional depth differences when drafting, choosing keepers, etc.)?

It is a tough question and will have different answers for each case.

In Dynasty leagues, it is a lot about who else you have that can play 2B or what the WW might look like. Or if you know another owner has a someone you could trade for to fill that hole. Only way I trade Kinsler is for a player that easily makes my team better or I have depth at that position. I tend to try and have a backup option for each position which opens up trade possibilities but not always is this possible or the backup is worth starting.

In deeper leagues, I would worry less about it in a dynasty league unless there is a large amount of keepers. I would still want the best players and i would worry about filling shallow positions later.

Dynasty leagues can be hard to trade in because there is so little on the WW so any hole that is created from a trade, requires another trade to fill that hole.

Ha, so now to weigh how much better Jones will be than Kinsler over the next few years...yeesh.
