Love this time of year. Either they gain weight or they are in the best shape ever. And then when it is all said and done, none of it really makes a difference.

it seems that when player X adds weight, it's thought that that player has added muscle and looking to improve on power numbers. for Dee Gordon that would be a mistake. if Gordon adds weight trying for "some" power and it hurts his speed, he is going to be in worse trouble than he was already heading into spring training looking like he wont be a starter.
he should be working on his on base skills, not adding power. if that's what the weight is.

Does it matter? Right now he should only be thought about in NL only or 20+ team leagues. Even then he shouldn't be starting. I wouldn't put any stock into his weight gain and I regard him the same way I did last year.

He is a guy that has a ton of speed but can't get on base. Until he can consistently hit above .300 and actually draw some walks, he has little to no value. Whether he starts or not.

Sweet! Power AND speed! You can't beat that.

He's gonna double his homerun output this yr!

But if he doesn't start, he'll never get a chance to even come close to being valuable. Whereas if he does start, he may actually gain some value. Hence the question. It doesn't matter how much he weighs or how many bowls of Fruit Loops he eats if he doesn't start.
