2013 Keepers Question

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

2013 Keepers Question

Postby ChrisV82 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 2:45 pm

I can keep 4 keepers, 1 from the first tier, 2 from the 2nd, and 1 from the 3rd (with corresponding loss of draft pick round next to it). I do not have to take a keeper from each tier (for example, I can take 3 from tier 2), but I cannot take more than 3 keepers that will cost me a 10th round or better pick (so basically I have to pretty much take someone from tier 3).

Tier 1 -
Matt Kemp or Adrian Gonzalez - 1st round pick

Tier 2 -
Ian Kinsler - 2nd
Jay Bruce - 4th
David Wright - 8th
Bryce Harper, Kris Medlen, or Mark Trumbo (2 of 3) - 10th

Tier 3 -
Gio Gonzalez - 11th
Chris Young - 14th

I was thinking Kemp, Wright, Harper and Krispie. I could also avoid Kemp (injury concerns?) and go after Trumbo or Medlen. Thoughts? Appreciate the feedback.

If you dont keep a Tier 1 keeper do you get your 1st round pick back. I may do that if I had that option.

Then:

Wright, Harper, Medlen, Gio

Harper, Wright, Gio.

If there is a way to know how many teams will keep their first pick and you think there is a good chance that you would have the first pick or two then I would let both Kemp and Adrian go. Neither is worth a 1st round pick and if most teams forfeit their 1st round pick, you could end up with something better.

How is Kemp not worth a 1st?
He probably is the 5th player off the board.

I'd take Wright and Harper for sure. I'd lean toward Gio Gonzalez over Young. As for he 4th keeper, I'd go with Kemp or Medlen. Who do you think will be available in the first round if you take Medlen and retain your first round pick? That would influence my answer.

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to review other people's keepers yet. I think there would be a lot of people keeping first round picks, which would more than likely let me keep Kemp even if I released him.

I appreciate all of the feedback.
