I'm in a 12 team 5x5 AL-only $ 260 auction league (9 major leaguers and 9 minor leaguers kept) and I have an interesting offer on the table.
I would receive: Moore ($8 for 2 years) the 2nd overall minor league draft pick
for:
Viciedo ($ 8, 1 year) McLouth ($2, 2 years). and Green, Hicks, and Archer from my minor league roster. ML contracts will become $ 8 for 3 years if and when they lose their rookie status.
At first, I thought it was too much, but with only 5 OF per team, and I will already be keeping Trout ($8, 2 years), Jennings ($8, 1 year), Cain ($7, 1 year), and Myers ($ 8 ML), If not, I would likely end up dropping Viciedo and McLouth, or trading them for FAAB. Any player going into the last year of his first contract (auction or ML) can be re-signed one time at a cost of $ 5 per extra year (i.e. Jennings could go to $ 13 for 2, $ 18 for 3, etc.).
As of right now, my other keepers are Perez ($ 2 for 1 years), Hosmer ($ 8 for 1 years), Lawrie ($ 8 for 2 years), the 3 OF above Anderson ($ 9 for 2 years), and Reed ($ 3 for 1 years). I would likely be resigning Perez and Hosmer for 2 additional years, and Jennings, Cain, and Reed for 1 more year. I would be left with only Romine (C), Olt, and Myers in my minors, but I would have 3 1st round picks (2, 6, and 12 overall) and a pick in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds to begin to replenish.
I've almost talked myself into pulling the trigger... Any advice?
