Who is the better keeper in a points league?

It looks like the Yankees are trending downward while the Rays are on the upswing. I like that Cano is a lefty pull hitter in Yankee Stadium and has consistency, but I think Longoria has more upside and is younger (I think). Both positions are pretty thin after the top couple players.

We can keep players as long as we want without any inflation, etc. Thoughts?

Agree about Cano. He's three years older but 3rd is a lot deeper.

well I think...

at 2nd base there's cano....and then pedroia and kinsler who are both only drafted in the second round because after them there are no more 2nd baseman....

at third there are all of these players who basically outperform the rest of 2B...

miggy
longo
zimmerman
hanly
beltre
wright
sandoval
aramis
headly
lawrie
moustakas
middlebrooks
alvarez

The real problem with Longoria is that he can't stay on the field. He has played 2 full seasons out of five and hasn't been healthy in the last two. Production wise, I think it would be very close and would probably take Longoria especially in a keeper league but add in the health issues and you have to go with Cano.

Cano has been better, but Longo is younger.
I take Longo.

your premise is wrong about 2B (and some of the guys you threw in for 3B are dubious, at best: alvarez? middlebrooks? moustakas? even zimmerman)

Here's 2B
Tier 1: Cano
Tier 2: Zobrist (especially in OBP leagues), Kinsler and Pedroia
Tier 3: Altuve, Phillips, Kipnis, Hill, Utley and Prado (and I think Weeks has a bounce back year)

All of those guys are projected higher than Middlebrooks, Moustakas and Alvarez at the moment. Some are projected higher than Zimmerman, too.

I'll stick by my theory that 3B isn't as deep as 2B. We can agree to disagree.
