Okay, here's the deal. I'm trying to make some final moves for the playoffs. Imbedded in these possible moves are keeper implications. Here is my situation. I apologize for the exposition.
Longoria is off the DL and typically I would just drop whatever bum I had in his place and reactivate him. However, Rizzo is who I have in his place. I can't activate Longoria until I drop someone. I have considered dropping Goldschmidt but backed down really quickly because he is doing very well. However, the thought of having a seriously good, keeper 1B is enticing. I've never had one. I'm always using guys like Goldschmidt or Butler or Hosmer (yuck). Below is a trade I've worked out that would net me a closer (where I've been weak all season) and a draft pick for Rizzo, whom I don't want to lose for nothing if I have to get rid of him. I am currently in 6th which is the last playoff spot. Through Tuesday's games I am getting smoked 10-0 but I'm coming off seven straight wins. I know I made a similar thread yesterday but this is a little more complicated -- I'm balancing/deciding between kinda giving up this year and trading to improve to try and win this year. My team is pretty good but I'm still not sure how I want to swing this. I know you're high on Rizzo but the big question I have is whether or not Rizzo would be a keeper? The guy I set the trade with would almost certainly keep him so he wouldn't be available in the draft. But I don't want to not make the trade, lose out on the pick and then not keep him.
How I have been planning my keepers: Braun, CarGo, Longoria, Reyes, Kershaw or Braun, Cargo, Longoria, Kershaw, Gio or Braun, Cargo, Longoria, Rizzo, Kershaw
Sooo,
Should I: 1) Make the trade, activate Longoria and live with losing out on Rizzo? 2) Drop Goldschmidt and roll with Rizzo at 1B and pick up a closer off the WW? (Affeldt, Romo and Balfour are available)
The trade: I get: Valverde 2013 10th Round Pick
I give: Rizzo 2013 13th Round Pick
As always, many thanks.
