ATLANTA -- Kris Medlen is moving into the Braves' rotation and will start Tuesday against the Marlins.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday Medlen is replacing Jair Jurrjens in the rotation unless the team adds a starting pitcher through a trade before Tuesday.

The Braves finally remembered that the fifth starter they were willing to overpay for was actually already in Atlanta! Thanks for saying no, Dempster, you actually saved us a lot of money.

Pretty sure the Cubs were willing to eat a large portion of Dempster's remaining contract which is why the subsequent return (Delgado) was so high...

They were, but the Braves were talking about signing Dempster to an extension, which would have been a terrible move for us considering that $15 million a year would being going to Dempster and not Bourn. I hate that y'all couldn't grab Delgado, though, when he grows up he could wind up being a solid number 2 or 3 starter or so. We'd give you him and Teheran for Castro!! You wouldn't even need to eat any salaries!
