12 team mixed league 5x5 roto

My SP's are weak...

Ervin Santana
Felix Herandez
Derek Lowe
Manny Parra
Jar Jar Binks
Andy Sonnastine
Sean Marshall

I have power to give

Prince Fielder
Amaris Ramirez
Hanley Ramirez
Adrian Beltre
Paul Konerko
Nate Mclouth
Curtis Granderson
Ryan Ludwick
Raul Ibanez

There is a team who has pitching and wants power. My thought (crazy?) is to offer

Amaris Ramirez

for

James Shields (he has Shields on the trading block)
and
Johnny Cueto

I figure I can plug Beltre and 3b and Konerko at CI and plug in a useful utility like Dejesus (help average and is all around boring but productive).

That makes sense....right?...wrong?....Now I'm scared...

I think you can do better.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

I need pitching so I'm going to have to make a move. He has Oswalt, Peavy and Shields on the trading block. I have power to give. He has pitching.

I'm going to throw out...

I give
Amaris Ramirez

I get
James Shields
Jorge Cantu

If he says no way then I still think a combo of Shields and Cueto or Shields and Wandy might help my team. I know you might not like the trade but who do you like better Cueto or Wandy? I think my team will be better with the pitching help.

I like Shields and Cueto slightly better, but you're selling Aramis short. Aramis is a 3rd rounder, Shields is an 7th rounder. That's a decent sized gap. You should be getting Peavy, Haren, Halladay, etc. Better yet, trade Ludwick for Shields.
