I know this is a little early, but found out the order of the draft today, so I started looking into trading some draft picks.

Details:
10-team Redraft ESPN Standard League

I have the 9th pick.

What is the going formula for trading draft picks?
For example, if I want to acquire an additional 3rd round pick, what should I be prepared to offer?
Or if I want to move up in the first round, what kind of offer would that take?
Or if I want trade away my 2nd round pick, what should I ask for in return?

And are these types of acquisitions usually worth it?

Thanks.

Okay, sent out an e-mail about trading down in the 2nd (#12) and 4th (#32) rounds.

Received some interest, guys with the 2nd and 3rd picks inquired about my #12 pick. Although, both said they were not willing to swap 1st round picks. So the situations are nearly identical.

Neither made an actual offer, so I was hoping for some suggestions. Thoughts?
2nd Pick Guy: my #12 for his #19 and #39
(2nd round swap + late 4th)

I'm having a lot of difficulty judging the value of picks though because if you look at these silly "Draft pick trade Analyzer" website, I should be getting the better deal: http://www.kffl.com/draftanalyzer/index.php

But something about moving down 7 spots for an extra 4th rounder doesn't really seem worth it. It would spread my picks out more evenly, but would leave the other guy with the 2nd, 12th, 22nd, 42nd picks. And me with the 9th, 19th, 29th, 32nd, 39th, and 49th.

Hey Heraldo, didn't realize you'd made mention of this in here as well. Sorry I missed it.

Trading picks for picks all depends on what you plan on getting from those picks. Moving down 7 spots in the second round and getting another pick out of it in the 4th doesn't sound bad at all, just depends on who you're targeting for them.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
If you want me to give you a back rub, you're probably SOL. Sorry about that.

I appreciate the response. I think I've been talking a little too much in generalities, so here's an offer from my buddy:

Swap 2nd and 3rd round picks and exchange his 4th for my 6th.
My #12, #29, and #52 for his #19, #22, and #39.

I think he's targeting my #12 pick because he's interested in Stafford or Gronk (a guess).

Without the trade, I'd hope to be able to select Chris Johnson and Ryan Matthews with my #9 and #12 picks. But with this trade, I could target DeMarco Murray and Matt Forte with the #19 or #22.

Would this be a fair trade?

Personally, I'm leaning towards keeping this in my back pocket and trying to shop the pick during the draft. If I'm getting this kind of offer a month in advance, logically couldn't I get a equal or better offer day of, with Gronk or Stafford or other "Really Hyped Player" still on the board. Worst case, I'm "stuck" with the 12th pick and that doesn't sound that bad to me.

Not a bad trade of picks, actually. I'd do that.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try and go forward with that trade.

Next question: Trading up to the #3 pick.
Another buddy, asked if we were to swap the #3 and #9 picks, what would be the earliest round's pick that I'd be willing to part with?

Assuming my other trade goes through, my first 6 picks would be:
#9, #19, #22, #32, #39, #49

Could I parlay these two trades to improve my picks even more? Or unless he's willing to take one of my 4th rounders, this would be useless?

Thanks.

I think I'd hold with what you have, personally, if that trade goes through.
