Hi all - would really appreciate a bit of input as to possible moves/improvements as I head (limp?) towards the playoffs.

League is 12-team H2H, 5 x 5 plus OBP and Holds. My pitching is relievers-only, so I aim to win Saves, Holds, ERA and WHIP and at least three hitting catgories each week. I'm currently in fourth, but it's pretty close all the way down to eighth. Amongst other problems, My closers are obviously pretty shitty - as I am relivers only do I need one from a higher tier than the ones I have?

My team:
C Doumit
1B Howard
2B Al Ramirez (Stewart is on Waivers)
3B Atkins
SS Hanley
LF Nady (Bruce is on Waivers)
CF Rios
RF Markakis
Util Hawpe
BN Bourn
BN Hairston

SP Hanrahan
SP T Buchholz
RP Mike G
RP Izzy
P Broxton
P Downs
P Kuo
BN Nunez
BN Bell
BN Grabow
BN Zumaya
BN Farnsworth
DL Burton

Thanks in advance for the input.

I'd drop Hairston for Bruce. If he gets hot, he can be a bigger difference maker than Hairston (either one, I'm assuming Jerry Jr.).

You could use a real closer, but I don't know how you would get one with the guys you have. I think you'll have to go at it with the guys you have while trying to get the best Hold guys available. Is Durbin available? He's foxy.

Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

re: closers - I had Saito and Mariano, but Saito went gimpy and I traded Mariano away as part of the package to get Hanley.

Could Hawpe get me anyone worthwhile? I could plug Bruce into Util (or Davis, when the guy who has him inevitably dumps him).

Hawpe would have more value on your team.

Fair call.

Hopefully I'll be OK with the closers I have. After all, Saves don't care who gets them, right?

I guess the problem with the schmohawks I have is that their ratios aren't all that spiffy and when you log so few innings each week, one or two bad outings can really ruin things.

True.

That's the problem. One Yates for 5 ER in .3 IP and you're in trouble.

Guys - just bumping this one as the trade deadline in my league is this weekend and would like any input on any moves (big or small) that I could make to improve. Roster screenshot is below, league is 12-team H2H, 5 x 5 plus Holds and OBP. Oh - and I'm relievers-only. And Wiggy is only around for another day or two! Thanks!

I can't believe you still have that deep of a hitting bench. You must get sonavabenched every day.

Either way, your offense is kickass. You're winning this league, right?

Wiggy and Gomez are completely expendable. I just grabbed Gomez for some SB insurance after I traded Rios away for Burrell. I guess I could just grab a Gomez type as/when I need him, rather than have him on board pemanently.

And Wiggy is gone after today - I'm using him at 2B as Al-Ram is facing Felix (Wiggy's record against Sheets is too good to ignore). I have to say, I like my team much better with just the one bench player - and it leaves spots free for SPs if I need them - like last week.

I'm in fourth, 2 games out of second. Being relievers-only I virtually give away Ks and Wins each week, so I don't really get the big blowout wins that propel you to the top of the standings. Reckon I'll be pretty dangerous in the playoffs though - when the margin of victory doesn't matter.
