I recently started managing a buddies fantasy team when he left for med school at the end of May. Needless to say his team was in last place, and utterly pathetic.....
Here is the recently revamped lineup after numerous waiver wire transactions since taking over(keep in mind I have played fantasy baseball in the past three years):
1B: Giambi (Recent pick-up)
3B: Crede (Recent pick-up)
OF: Wells (Recent pick-up)
OF: Abreu (Recent pick-up)
Util: J. Guillen (Recent pick-up)
BN: Cano (Picked him up. He will sit on the bench until he starts to heat up. Lifetime .241 avg pre-all star break, yet his season .avg always ends up around .300)
BN: Barajas - Waiting to see how Zaun's return affects his numbers.
P: D. Matsuzaka
P: Mussina (Recent Pick Up)
P: Parra (Recent Pick Up)
P: Litsch(Recent Pick Up)
RP: B. Wilson
Can I get your thoughts on this team after my recent transactions. This is a 12 team mixed league with weekly head to head matchups. No waiver wire/transaction limits.
One major question. Swisher and Garko are both free agents, do I swap one of them for Giambi?
If you win the league for him, will he let you sit in the operating room during his first surgery?
I don't think Swisher and Garko are huge upgrades over Giambi but I do think they should be on a team in a 12 team league. I gotta say, I'm sure his team is much improved right now, but it still needs a bunch of work.
I'd try and move Kaz for two quality starters. Cause as it is Kaz and Dice-K aren't going to do the trick.
Also, I don't think anyone's picking up Barajas anyway. Drop him for Swisher.
And move Theriot for a decent starter and just put Cano in.
Hope some of this helps.
