Any advice on how to improve this team? Roto, 12 teams, Hitters: AVG, R, RBI, HR, SB, OPS, Pitchers: W, L, K, ERA, WHIP, SVHD (saves + holds).

I feel like I'm light on speed, and also, I don't know how much of a difference there is between my bottom 4 hitters but so far I've had little success moving any of them for more useful pieces. I'm working on a trade to maybe send victorino and anderson/weaver away for ellsbury to pick up 30-40 extra steals but don't know if that's worth giving up a pretty decent starter for. Anyway, I'd appreciate advice on the specific trade and also general comments about what I can/should do with this squad.

I'm new to this board, but all I can say is SAGNOF aboout your steals comment. Don't worry, if you're in need, I'm sure your waiver wire is gonna house some SB as it doesn't look like your league is too deep. Hold tight and see what you have unless you get a monster offer. I'm sure if you're dying for steals down the road, it probably means someone isn't producing. Drop your player for Bret Gardner or his equally unsexy equivalent.

Agreed. This league looks shallow. The type of league where guys like Pierre and Fowler sometimes go undrafted, even....

It's actually not that shallow, it's a regular 12-team league. This just happens to be a keeper league with 10 players kept each year and I won last year so my talent level is higher than average. I do think my roster got worse from last year though, which is why I figured I'd ask around for help. The best SAGNOF options on waivers as of right now seem to be everth, alcides, carlos gomez, stubbs, and podsednik. Some of those aren't terrible, I just don't like owning guys of that sort unless I'm virtually guaranteed great production in the R and AVG departments which are all questionable with those guys as opposed to ellsbury (at least I hope so, as a sox fan...). But yeah, one of those guys at the end of my bench can be dropped after a month or two if I'm horribly behind on steals and hopefully a good option will still be out there on waivers. Keep a close eye on those SS and just as close of one on Stubbs. Stubbs may not hit for a high average, but with that plate discipline he could swipe quite a few and stay atop the Reds lineup. He may even burden your SB pursuit with a few HRs to boot. Glad to see you've got some options though. Good luck to you this season!
