STRATEGY: Went into the draft thinking I was going to draft 5 or 6 offensive players before grabbing a SP, unless one the big 5 SP fell to me in the 4th/5th. Wanted a 1B early, but they all were snagged by the time it hit me at 14/15 so I went Wright and Tulo- cause I think both their respective positions are thin. You'll notice I never tend to reach for RP and usually opt to draft serviceable closers at end part of my drafts. I usually draft SP in the NL, (West preferably) and most of my bats tend to side to AL.

MY DRAFT ANALYSIS: I think Im light in steals, but I tend to never chase little turkeys that bat .285 and steal 30 bags, just not my kind of player (sans Escobar). In addition, I think I need 1 more SP to emerge or nab off the wire - I like 5 solid SP in this format -- and Im not sure Hammel, Masterson or Maine will become that guy...FA Pool is very thin.

Please let me know your thoughts on my little stuffed burritos and I'll absolutely give you my take on your squads...

I love Quentin at 7...I think hes going to end up being one of the huge steals of 2010...im thinking 30+ hr and 100+ rbi batting 250ish, which is a major bargain for a 7th rounder..least i think so

I have him at 85 /32/98/5 .280 with 550 AB's. I think the runs and rbis can increase within that line-up.

You look heavy on power and light on speed, that's not necessarily a bad thing in H2H, so there's that. Plus, your scoring makes that even less of a thing. You do look lower on Runs than RBIs, too. But it's not terrible. Your starting is a bit shallow too. I'm guessing you're going with a few great starts, saves and Holds. I'd make sure not to start too many junky starters.

appreciate the take.. pretty much spot on with what i think as well - light on runs, steals and SP depth.

In regard to bats and addressing my problem areas -- Pagan is there, Im not sure he can repeat his July-Sept 2009, but he could be a solution for the runs, moderate speed, good avg upside - but dont love that option. Carlos Gomez is also available... thoughts on either?

The SP depth in my league is always light due in large part to roster size. If you can believe it, Ive been pondering which of these guys (if any) I might want to roster over my "J Boys" - J. Maine, J. Masterson or J. Hammell (my large gut tells me to sit tight). What do you think since you're in a 14 teamer ? - thought you might have a take here...:

Trevor Cahill - hate the lack of ks, but has good control.
Felipe Paulino - the most intriguing on this list to me, cause of the stuff and high k rate. could be 2010 right handed version of George of the Rose.
Robinson Tejeda - I hear he's not making the Starting Rotation in KC in favor of garbageworth, but like the k/9
Anibal Sanchez - who got lit up again today and will likely never return to 2006 form
Jonathan Niese - Id think Id rather have Maine
Ian Snell - not sure how hes regressed with that D and the stadium, but Im still intrigued
Oliver Perez - see Snell above. You can see Im a sucker for lefties with K potential (albeit 3-4 years ago)

Not really excited about picking up any of these players.

I think Paulino could be a pretty big sleeper (especially in NL only leagues) and deep mixed, but Im gonna roll dice on him in my 14 team mixed cause of the lack of available FA on the wire. Hes got a 92-95 mph consistent fast ball and Im reading that hes been getting good late movement on it all spring, a decent curve, his change-up needs some work and hes got to keep guys off base -- but kid has a lot of talent and you could be looking at a 180k guy should he be able to amass 175-190 + innings. Im gonna roll dice on him...

Update: I dumped MADISON Bumgarner today for Paulino.
