Here we go again! This year I drafted at a bar with the league. It was kind of stupid to sit there with our laptops and get progressively intoxicated... and probably didn't help my results...

Team Name: Schadenfreude (Currently in: N/A)
14 team, head-to-head, mixed league.
8 team playoffs (1st place pay-out = $500)
Hitters stats counted: R HR RBI SB TB AVG OBP
Pitchers stats counted: W CG SV K HLD ERA WHIP
__________________________________________

C: Miguel Montero (ARI) - drafted (12th Rd pick - 167th overall) (Y! ADP - 172.4) - This year I find myself consistently ending up with Montero in all my leagues.
1B: Adrian Gonzalez (SD) - drafted (2nd Rd pick - 27th overall) (Y! ADP - 24.9) - Should've actually taken Zimmerman, then got Gonzo 2 picks later... I don't think the guy I was drafting around would've taken another 1B, since he had Pujols, with his next two picks - and ended up taking Zimma from me. Regardless I didn't want to risk it, and would rather have Gonzo than Zimmerman.
2B: Brandon Phillips (CIN) - drafted (3rd Rd pick - 30th overall) (Y! ADP - 43.6) - Reach? Yes, maybe a Round too early, but only Brian Roberts made it back around to me, I'd rather have Phillips.
3B: Chone Figgins (SEA) - drafted (5th Rd pick - 58th overall) (Y! ADP - 70.0) - Hoping Gonzalez/Phillips/Ramirez provide enough power to counter Figgins... Per Grey's instructions.
SS: Hanley Ramirez (FLA) - drafted (1st Rd pick - 2nd overall) (Y! ADP - 2.4) - I had the 2nd pick of the draft, really not much else to do.
OF: B.J. Upton (TB) - drafted (4th Rd pick - 55th overall) (Y! ADP - 52.6) - Funny that I end up with him again, granted a round later than last year. Here's hoping I get what I expected last year.
OF: Carlos Quentin (CWS) - drafted (10th Rd pick - 139th overall) (Y! ADP - 177.9) - Steal of the draft? Could be...
OF: Garrett Jones (PIT) - drafted (14th Rd pick - 195th overall) (Y! ADP - 222.5) - Even if he doesn't "grow". Having the same impact as last year, over a full season, won't hurt... Could alway pick Corey Hart back up.
UTIL: Hideki Matsui (LAA) - drafted (18th Rd pick - 251st overall) (Y! ADP - 231.3) - Full time DH on the Angels? Don't mind if I do.

SP: [SP] Cole Hamels (PHI) - drafted (6th Rd pick - 83rd overall) (Y! ADP - 91.2) - Best available after I had my line-up locked up where I wanted it.
SP: [SP] Ricky Nolasco (FLA) - drafted (7th Rd pick - 86th overall) (Y! ADP - 99.9) - Same as Hamels.
RP: [CL] Carlos Marmol (CHC) - drafted (11th Rd pick - 142nd overall) (Y! ADP - 122.1) - Worried about him.
RP: [CL] David Aardsma (SEA) - drafted (13th Rd pick - 170th overall) (Y! ADP - 195.6) - Take your closers late, kids.
P: [RP] Takashi Saito (ATL) - drafted (20th Rd pick - 279th overall) (Y! ADP - 265.4) - Holds/CL experience.
P: [RP] Jason Motte (STL) - drafted (21st Rd pick - 282nd overall) (Y! ADP - N/A) - Holds/CL in waiting? Maybe...
P: [RP] Nick Masset (CIN) - pick-up (free agency) (Y! ADP - N/A) - dropped Corey Hart (17th Rd) already... really didn't need him, don't drink and draft.
BN: [SP] Jered Weaver (LAA) - drafted (8th Rd pick - 111th overall) (Y! ADP - 114.8) - Best available.
BN: [SP] Scott Baker (MIN) - drafted (9th Rd pick - 114th overall) (Y! ADP - 106.6) - Best available.
BN: [SP] Ervin Santana (LAA) - drafted (16th Rd pick - 223rd overall) (Y! ADP - 223.2) - Best available.
BN: [SP] Stephen Strasburg (WAS) - drafted (15th Rd pick - 198th overall) (Y! ADP - 178.7) - Don't drink and draft.
BN: [SP] Aroldis Chapman (CIN) - drafted (19th Rd pick - 254th overall) (Y! ADP - 214.3) - If he starts in the bullpen, I'll drop one of my RPs, move him into that slot, pick up another P. If in A-ball, gonna have to bear with it. Don't drink and draft.

Alright, so what's the problem here. The problem is that I drank the kool-aid and bought into Strasburg and Chapman... who likely won't be useful until a month or two into the season - and then god only knows just how useful they'll be. I was a little drunk, and in our league pitchers were just flying off the board, my reasoning (at the time) was to take the two upside guys. Judging the success of Hanson/Billingsley/Kershaw/Scherzer/Price from previous couple of years... The only problem is that I have to wait for their services and that wait might kill me in the standings... We'll see. But I won't be surprised if I drop them the first week for a couple of guys I'm watching, after a couple of quality starts, namely: Rowland-Smith, Kawakami, Maine, Chris Young, Millwood, Marcum, Duke, Romero, Westbrook, Colby Lewis, Gio Gonzalez, & Fausto Carmona.

I'll update regularly as we proceed. Holla back!

EDIT: Chone's move to 2B gives me some flexibility, and a possible trade card... I'll see how it all works out. But if I see someone struggling and I want and believe in, I could see myself making some moves.

I agree with your assessment. I think you're gonna have to trade Upton or Figgins. Two guys that will get you 40+ steals and under 15 homers is too much steals/little power, but they are good on OBP, so I'd probably let the first couple of weeks play out to see how you do. Looks like a real solid pitching staff. I agree that you might need to drop one or both of the last two to battle for counting stats week-to-week.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Just a quick moment of your time, Grey.

Let's assume neither make the club at the start (Strasburg already down there, and Chapman is sure to follow, considering all the facts). If you are to make a move now, between Chapman and Strasburg, which one do you part with first, in your opinion... Rather - which one do you forsee having a more effective season, and worth of holding onto in anticipation of them coming around in May/June.
