Yahoo wrote about this guy being a candidate in SD and he got the save last night. Is he the new closer? Has a minor league history of closing and has been solid thus far. What say you Grey?

Cashner was never officially named closer. Bud Black indicated that Cashner would probably be the primary guy but also named Thayer and Gregerson as options. After Cashner got lit up on Sunday (while pitching the 8th inning), you have to think the door is at least slightly open for Thayer to take the job. the fact that he has dominated in 5 appearances since being called up certainly helps his case too. Remember, teams don't always use their best arm in the 9th. Bud Black might like Cashner in the 8th inning. Almost any MLB pitcher can be a closer given the opportunity.

I was just saying what grey said....but after the first month of this season I wouldn't be surprised if a team called a fan out of the stands to close the game out
