I'm filling out my roster with the suddenly named closers. In recent days I've added Marshall and Aceves. Should I replace Brett Myers with Peralta?

I wouldn't. Myers is "the guy" in Houston while Peralta is "the guy who is chairman of the committee" until Farnsworth comes back.

That was my thinking too, plus it would be nice to have a token Astro on the team since I live in Houston. I just worry about how few save chances Myers might actually see this year.

Even the worst teams in the league are still going to generate around 50+ save opportunities every year. Take a look at all the 100 loss teams in the last 5 years and see how many save opportunities each of them have:

YEAR/TEAM - SAVE OPS
2011/HOU - 50
2010/SEA - 55
2010/PIT - 48
2009/WASH - 58
2008/SEA - 67
2008/WASH - 56

It's all about whether or not he can actually convert them or not. He will get the chances.

Crazy that Tampa won 91 games last year and only had 32 saves in 44 opportunities.

Yeah I know. Washington had 22 less wins than Philly did, but had 21 more save opportunities. Just goes to show you that it doesn't matter how good the team is, the save chances are always there.

For a really impressive stat, check out the Angels from 2008. 100 wins.....and....89 Save Opportunities!! Holy Crap!!
