Posting in correct area:
Ok ok I'm a realist in these sorts of questions (ie I know it is a stretch and he's a slow starter normally anyways) but I feel my team is a bit light on Steals so I'm thinking SAGNOF, to wit, and wanted the board's opinion on a rebound of getting Figgy wid it.

Figgins had the absolute worst BABIP difference from career in 2011. Hit .188. I mean what was up with he and Dunn last year?

Anyways, since he could steal 40 bags and bat 1st or 2nd for an MLB team he could be a big WW pick-up.

Should I be looking for steals here? I'll play the wire for saves if needed but have 130 RP appearances limit.

Also who to drop? I'm thinking Chris Davis but if Wright or Miggy stay down for long I'll need him.

Here's my team (5X5, 12 team, both) and some other options on the WW:

C Wieters
C Doumit
1b Miggy
2b Uggla
3b Wright
SS Jeter
OF McCutcheon
OF Bruce
OF Gordon
OF Heyward
U I Davis
R Rios
R C Davis
R Desmond
R Rayburn

SP Lincecum
SP Beckett
SP Gio
SP Scherzer
SP Minor
RP Valverde
RP Capps
R Johan
R Bedard
R Billingsley

Options on the wire with some steals potential:
Andres Torres
D Murphy
Venable
Schaefer
Alcides Escobar
Denorfia
Campana

Other options on WW:
Lowrie
Sean Rod
P Alvarez
Viciedo

Sorry to derail, but Lou Piniella is now doing Yankees broadcasts and he pronounces his name "Chone," which I find hilarious. Even baseball people don't know it's "Shawn."

It's possible Figgins bounces back... As you stated, he was unlucky last year... If he's lot a step though... I mean, look at Pierre...

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Didn't Pierre steal 60 bases year before last? OPS of .600 I'm sure but if you've got homers/rbi covered elsewhere maybe worth an OF slot.

Doesn't Baseball Prospectus look at players historically to make assumptions on current players... so who would Chone Figgins look like at 34 years old, career .280/.720ops hitter.

Also do 'perts really look at slow starters or monthly averages? Figgy is lifetime .264 hitter in April, .238 in May. I know Teixeira fits that pattern as well generally.

Pierre's been caught 3 out of 5 times this spring and he was caught 17 times last year, only stealing 27...

That's ugly... he's only 18 months older than Figgy, who is 0-2 stealing this spring.

However, Figgy is hitting .214 with 7 walks, so OBP of .371

G▼ AB▼ R▼ H▼ 2B▼ 3B▼ HR▼ RBI▼ BB▼ SO▼ SB▼ CS▼ AVG▼ OBP▼ SLG▼ OPS
Figgins, C SEA 3B 10 28 5 6 2 1 0 1 7 8 0 2 .214 .371 .357 .729

Maybe I'll just pick up Schafer and crack open the Manischevitz... or Torres and some Coronas. Hey that was doubly offensive - yay!

Cho-ne's the only way to say it. Pinella's got it right.

Check out his season so far. Can Cho-ne once again get figgy with it?
