With Adams gone who becomes the closer in San Diego if Bell gets traded too?

I've been adding Gregerson since Adams got traded, but he might not get the call... That's just who I think the first option would be.

Looks like a moot point now. I whiffed on Adams and Clippard.

Same here, and Uehara, a guy I thought would "definitely" get the closing gig by the end of May... This wasn't a good SAGNOF deadline at all this year.

David Hernandez was available so i added him and will be sticking pins in my Putz voodoo doll in the meantime.

Admiral, or any of you guys, do you think i should add a starter for the stretch run or just stand pat? I'm thinking maybe i should try to get in on the Pence high everybody's feeling right now, trade him for a starter, and move Morse from Util to RF. That would mean Reynolds would see more playing time at Util, at least for now. These are my current starters:

Hanson
Marcum
Baker
Gio
Bud
Ervin Santana
Liriano (i know...)
Bills
Niemann (just added)
Beachy
Cecil (or streamer)

Hanson, Baker, and Marcum have been my best guys and even they've been unreliable at times. I'm in 2nd and have a better offense than the 1st place team, but his pitching is led by Verlander and Halladay. He also has Price, Cain, Jaime, Jar Jar, a couple other guys and Oswalt on the DL.

I know playoff matchups can be fluky, but in general do you think i have enough pitching to close the deal? I think it's possible i could get Lincecum from a non-playoff team that's starting Frenchy in RF. It's a keeper so i think he'd be interested in Pence going forward. The team with CC would also probably like to have Pence. I would have to do one of those moves (throw in Bud or Beachy or Bills) if i could, right?

Otherwise, i'd be looking at adding someone like a Shields, Scherzer, or Cueto level guy. I'm thinking i'd rather just stick with Pence over those options, even though some of those guys are having good years.

So, based on my current starters, would you trade Pence in this situation to get a Lincecum or CC level pitcher? I'm thinking i would. If you whiffed on that level guy, would you trade Pence for a guy like Shields or Cueto? I'm thinking i'd hold on to Pence.

If you're still reading after all that, let me know what you think. Thanks.

If you could get a top tier starter for Pence I could see that as helping you out, but I wouldn't accept less than a Lincecum/CC type... Pence will have a chance to hit in a much better lineup than he's accustomed to, in a hitter's ballpark, and for the first time in his career, something to play for in September.
With that being said, there's a chance that Pence playing so far from home (Was born in Texas, spent two of his minor league years in Texas, and then played for Houston) in a situation where he suddenly has pressure on him, he could choke, which is why I think he'd definitely be worth a top pitcher.
Less than that, though, doesn't seem worth it, because usually you can get some pretty good streaming starts in September as pitchers face teams that are resting their starters because they've locked the playoffs, or because they're out of it and are playing young guys.

He's not off to a great start so far but still, i'm not really concerned about him falling off the ledge. I've just been wondering if my offense would take much of a hit with Morse in there everyday instead of Pence. Neither of them has been hot lately, but from a power standpoint Morse has been better overall. Pence wasn't running much before the trade, and i don't think he'll start doing it now since he's hitting 5th for the Phils. I was thinking the same thing you mentioned, that it looks like he's getting a bump in runs with Ibanez being hot and should get the same effect with RBIs going forward. It's mostly for that reason i think i could aim a little higher for a pitcher now than i could a week ago, but i'm not completely sure it's necessary. The trade deadline is still a couple weeks away in this league, so i think i'm gonna see how it plays out for now. Thanks for weighing in.
