The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa is considering using Kyle McClellan as the team's closer. With Edwin Jackson joining the St. Louis rotation by way of a three-team trade with the White Sox and Blue Jays, McClellan will be moving to the bullpen in an "important role," according to LaRussa. If that role turns out to be the closer's job, Fernando Salas would move back into a middle relief role. Salas has converted 19 of 22 save opportunities as the Cardinals' closer this season, posting a 2.57 ERA.
