I know this isn't the correct place to post this, but I wasn't sure where to put it. Is it just me or are umps calling more and more balks. Every year the number called seems to go up, and the worst part is if you ask most fans what a balk is they can't give you a definitive answer. Most umps seem to have different meanings as well. I'm sick and tired of this, it slows the game down and changes outcomes. I would be interested to see the number of balks called each year and see if it is actually increasing or if that is just my perception.

ESPN 10 team H2H each category. Before you say anything about it, I know I don't have any SP. This strategy has brought me to the championship game 4 of the last 5 years.

Balks are stupid... I got ejected for "arguing" a balk in high school, which consisted of me simply asking the umpire to tell me what I did wrong so that I'd know for the future, so I know how Beurhle feels :/

Umps need to calm down when players get agitated with their calls, though, seriously. Buerhle didn't do anything that seemed out of line. but he got ejected anyway. As far as I'm concerned players should be able to make whatever faces or actions they want as long as they don't say anything to the umpire or make an obscene gesture. The whole "Oh, he's showing the ump up" argument has always struck me as pretty stupid; a player isn't allowed to show any reaction at all when they're upset with a call? That isn't a reasonable requirement considering the emotion involved in baseball.
