Where is his power at??
At the end of May last year, he had 14 HRs. Granted, his BA stunk, but his power was there...

This year he's got 4 HR's, and they were all in April. What's wrong??

Looking at his FB% of 38.4%, it's not far off of what he did in limited play two years ago, and his line drive rate of 24.3% is actually quite good for him. His average is solid, and his BABIP isn't ridiculous... He's hitting fine, he's just not hitting HR's.

Given his numbers, things should even out and he should be fine, but he hasn't hit a HR since April 29th, and it's starting to concern me a bit. Does anyone in the Cincinnati area that's able to watch him play notice anything different about his swing or power this year?

I haven't seen any Reds games but my inclination is to just be patient and as the weather heats up, balls will starting flying out for him.

There has been some speculation that he's focusing more on making contact this season. Once he gets a little more comfortable at the plate I think he'll open up a bit and the power should return.

Someone should let him know that while I appreciate his attempts to help my team out in BA, I'd prefer he focus on giving my team more power, instead :/

On the other hand, a can't miss prospect batting .180 gets you a one way ticket to Chris Davisville.

Would you rather have Bruce than a Markakis or Brett Gardner?

I'm thinking it should be Markakis, Bruce, Gardner - but then it depends on you needs. Markakis and Bruce are close, but I feel Markakis has the track record/experience. And I say this a Bruce owner who, too, is lamenting his "team first" approach. Hey, what about my fantasy team?!?!

Despite my anger with Bruce, I'd still rather have him than Markakis. Markakis will most likely hit right around .300 with right around 20 HR's as usual, ,but I think his RBI and runs will take a dive this year due to the bad lineup he's in.
Bruce still has a lot more upside. I'd be very happy with a .270/30/90 line from him, but the longer he waits to start swinging for the fences, the more I doubt that he'll get there.

Gardner is a completely different sort of player than either of them, so it's kind of hard to compare him... If I needed speed, obviously I'd like him more, but if I needed power, I wouldn't..

It's great to know that Bruce listens when I have concerns about him. I might start a thread like this before every one of his starts!

Or it could have been that email I sent him:
"Dear Jay,
I am a starving orphan from Kablakistan whose fantasy baseball team needs you to hit home runs or else the government man will sell me into slavery."

I mean, yeah, I mildly embellished the facts a bit...
