Mon, Aug 4 Morrow will transition to a starter when J.J. Putz is ready to close, the Seattle Times reports.
Recommendation: Manager Jim Riggleman previously said that the organization was split "50/50" on making Morrow a starter. Sunday, though, he said, "It's going to happen at some point." Putz, who pitched 1.1 scoreless innings Sunday, is getting closer to returning to the ninth-inning role. Once that happens, Morrow likely will go to Triple-A to stretch out before returning in September to start.
Sun, Aug 3 Updating previous reports, Seattle Mariners manager Jim Riggleman said the team wants to get RP Brandon Morrow several starts before the end of the season, depending on how soon CL J.J. Putz can return to the closer role full-time, according to The Associated Press. Riggleman said the goal is to get Morrow to the point where he can pitch five innings late in the season, proving his arm can handle the rigors of starting.
Are they trying to kill his arm in the next month or so? Sounds like it'd be a better offseason project then end of the year one.... Just my opinion though.
